Coffs Harbour is an iconic Australian surf town located on the mid north coast of NSW. Billabong is extremely proud to have a long-standing relationship with the community of Coffs. From sponsoring Coffs Harbour Boardriders Club, playing host to one of Australia’s most prestigious grom comps ‘The Billabong Oz Grom Cup’ and the presence of Billabong sponsored surfers littering the Coffs coastline including Otis Carey, Ethan Stocks, Hunter Winkler, Will Martin and Carly Shanahan. Another close relationship is the association with well recognised surf retailer Coopers Surf. Coopers are the go-to core stores that have been servicing the Coffs community since the 60’s.
What better way to stoke out the community than to pack the Billabong van with the likes of Parko, Occy, Creed McTaggart, Ryan Callinan, Otis Carey, Pacha Light and Macy Callaghan to spend the weekend down in Coffs Harbour. Otis Carey opened the weekend with his first ever art show in his home town, with the well-known band members of Wash (Creed, Ellis Ericson and Beau Forster) treating the crowd to a set that closed out the party that the locals of Coffs won’t forget anytime soon.
Saturday morning the Billabong team flocked down to McCauley’s Beach and set up camp for the Biilabong Surf Day. Every grom went home decked out in Billabong gear as well as a smile from ear to ear as they got to go surfing and hang out with ex-world champs and mingle with Billabong pros for the day. And just when the local community thought the Billabong team had packed the van and headed for the highway commute back to Burleigh Heads, Parko and Occy surprised the boardriders club and gatecrashed their annual boardriders club presentation to present all the winners with their trophies and prizes.
